Parts for Kenworth W900 trucks

The W900 is a truck people hold on to. Owner-operators keep the same long hood for well over a decade, and fleets often run them long after newer trucks have rotated out. All those heavy loads and highway miles eventually catch up with the radiator, the headlights and the fiberglass up front. We built our Kenworth parts range around those jobs: the components that wear out first on a working truck and the upgrades owners ask our team about most.

Everything in this section is an OE-style aftermarket replacement. It follows the original dimensions and mounting points, so in most cases it bolts on with the brackets and hardware already on your truck.

Know which W900 you are working on

Most ordering mistakes start here. The W900 name covers several generations, and the two you'll run into most often are the W900B, the standard-hood truck that replaced the W900A in the early 1980s, and the W900L, the long-hood version introduced in 1990. Lighting, cab trim and many cooling components are shared between them, and some of them also fit the T800 and T600. Hood shells are a different story: each one is made for a single hood length and won't interchange.

Model year matters just as much. Kenworth changed cooling packages several times as engines and emissions equipment evolved, so two trucks built in the same year can take different radiators. Before ordering, write down the year, the hood version and the part number printed on the old component. With those three details, fitment can usually be confirmed in one phone call.

Radiators, charge air coolers and coolant tanks

The cooling stack on a long hood works hard, especially pulling a heavy load up a grade in July. Radiator trouble usually shows up as seepage where the plastic tank meets the aluminum core, or as a core so packed with dirt and bugs that washing no longer helps. When comparing a replacement, check four things: core height and width, inlet and outlet positions, whether the original had a mounting frame, and whether it carried an integrated oil cooler. Two radiators that look identical in photos often differ on one of these points.

The charge air cooler sits right in front of the radiator and takes the same beating from road debris. A cracked tube or leaking end tank lets boost escape, and you feel it right away: weak pulling on hills, black smoke, higher exhaust temperatures and worse mileage. If the radiator is coming out anyway, have the cooler pressure tested while the front end is apart. That's why, of all the Kenworth W900 truck parts we ship to repair shops, these two so often travel on the same order.

The coolant recovery tank deserves a look too. Years of heat cycles make the plastic brittle, and a hairline crack or a worn sensor cap can trigger low-coolant warnings that send a driver hunting for a leak somewhere else. When a new radiator goes in, it's also the right moment to replace soft hoses and tired clamps, flush the system and refill with the coolant type your engine calls for. A fresh core running on old, contaminated coolant won't last as long as it should.

Headlights and bezels

On an older W900, factory halogen assemblies slowly fade to a dull yellow beam as the lenses haze and the reflectors lose their finish. LED projector headlights with daytime running lights mount in the original location and throw a whiter, more focused beam, which you notice immediately on unlit two-lane roads. You can order a complete set or just the driver's-side or passenger-side headlight. Chrome headlight bezels fall somewhere between repair and styling. Scratched or cracked trim pieces make even the best-maintained truck look worn out, but you can replace them with new ones and give the front of the truck a whole new look. For owners who want to achieve noticeable results without undertaking major work, these accessories for Kenworth W900 are among the most popular items in our lineup.

Hood, grille and bumper

The fiberglass hood on a W900 lives with constant vibration, and stress cracks tend to start around the hinge area and the headlight mounts. Small cracks can be repaired, but once they spread or the shell has been patched several times, a new hood is the better investment.

A grille with broken bars or a faded emblem is a quick fix that changes the whole face of the truck. When a collision has damaged several Kenworth W900 body parts at once, ordering the hood, grille, bumper and lights together saves on freight.

When selecting a bumper, first determine the required height, then check the mounting style and the presence of necessary cutouts - such as those for fog lights, a step, or tow hooks. A stainless steel bumper with concealed mounting hardware not only hides bolt heads but also retains its shine for years without the need for re-chroming, making it a classic choice for long-nose trucks.

Why aftermarket makes sense for an older truck

Once a truck is well past warranty, dealer pricing on cooling and body components is hard to justify. Quality Kenworth W900 aftermarket truck parts follow the original specifications, they are often easier to find for older model years, and the savings go back into tires, fuel and maintenance. What matters is correct fitment and decent materials, and that's where we focus when deciding what goes into our inventory.

Ordering Without Guesswork

Orders are processed and handed to the carrier within 24 hours on business days. Hoods, radiators and bumpers often travel by LTL freight, so leave a phone number the driver can reach. Local pickup is available at our Washington warehouse, and unused parts in original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Fleets and body shops ordering several units can ask about shipping discounts on bulk orders.

Quick Answers

Will a part fit both the W900B and the W900L?

Many cooling and lighting parts do, and some also fit the T800 and T600. Hoods are made for one hood length, so always check the fitment line on the listing.

How do I confirm a radiator will fit?

Match the OEM number from the old unit, then compare core size, inlet and outlet positions, and whether a frame or oil cooler is included.

What should I have ready before calling?

Model year, hood version and the old part number.
