What are the most popular accessories for Kenworth T680 and T880 trucks?

The most common accessory upgrades for the Kenworth T680 and T880 fall into five groups: grille guards, LED headlight assemblies, drop visors, chrome door mirror covers, and grille frames with bug screens. Tacoma Parts Corporation sells all five for both trucks, mostly as separate products for each model. Which one makes sense depends on the work your truck does and on how it was built. A part listed for one T680 can miss another by a model year or a cab type.

Popular T680 and T880 accessories at a glance

Each of these accessories does a different job, and each has at least one fitment limit that causes wrong orders.

For a highway T680: plan lighting and front-end protection together

Before you shop, find out which T680 you have. Kenworth redesigned the front of the Next Gen T680 with a new hood, a narrower grille, a reshaped bumper and new headlamps, with full LED headlamps offered as an option. Next Gen parts are listed for 2022 and newer trucks, so headlights and guards for 2013-2021 trucks are separate products. The two versions also have separate catalogs: accessories for the earlier Kenworth T680 and T680 Next Gen parts and accessories. If the cab alone doesn't settle it, the model year on the title or the VIN will.

On a 2013-2021 truck, start with the LED headlights for the earlier T680. On a Next Gen, one catalog example is this LED headlight set for the T680 Next Gen, SKU NO-Z8UB-0RSL, listed for 2022 and newer trucks. Neither fits the other generation.

Plan the guard at the same time, because a guard sits right in front of the lamps. Check how it mounts, which bumper it was made for, whether your truck has fog lights, where the front sensors sit, and whether the hood still tilts with the guard installed. The large black guard for the 2022+ T680 is offered in a No Fog version. Pick that version only after you've confirmed your bumper's fog-light setup.

Keep the LED terms apart, too. A headlight assembly replaces your headlamps. An LED bar on a guard adds auxiliary light, and accent lighting is mostly for looks. A product with LEDs in its name won't necessarily improve your low beam, plug into factory wiring, or be legal for road use. Read each listing for those details.

A short order of work:

  1. Identify the T680 version and model year.
  2. Check the current headlights and bumper.
  3. Match the headlights and the guard to each other and to the truck.

For a working T880: choose protection around the truck's configuration

Say your T880 runs regional routes, goes onto construction sites, or does other vocational work. For that kind of use, plan the grille guard first, since it affects the bumper, the lights and hood access. The catalog example here is a HERD 300 grille guard for the T880, listed in its title and description for 2014-2025 trucks. The listing states that mounting brackets come with it.

Before you order a guard, check three things on your truck:

  • The bumper it has now, plus any equipment mounted on or behind it
  • What the bracket kit includes for that bumper
  • Room to open the hood and reach service points

If the headlights are also due, the catalog has a full LED pair with black housings listed for the T880 (SKU U8-H0BC-8Z51). Check the model year and the connector against your truck. Fitment and specs for T680 headlights don't apply to this pair, and it won't fit a T680.

Three parts get mixed up in orders. A grille guard is a separate frame that mounts ahead of the grille. A grille frame is the trim around the grille itself. The bumper is part of the truck's front structure. A guard won't stand in for a damaged bumper or bent mounts, and no guard can promise that a collision leaves the truck undamaged.

When you compare guards, compare everything that comes with each one for your truck: brackets, lights, hood clearance, and sensor access. Two guards that look alike in photos can differ on all four. For other options, browse the parts and accessories for the Kenworth T880.

For a cleaner chrome look: mirror covers, visors and grille frames

Chrome trim changes how the truck looks without touching anything mechanical. You can build a matching set, but each piece has its own fitment, and there's no single kit that covers both models.

Mirror covers are the one item here that a single listing offers for both models. The chrome door mirror covers for the T680 and T880 come as a left and right set (SKU XQ-6DB1-QK0J) for 2013-2021 trucks. They fit over the outside of the housing and leave the glass, heating and power adjustment as they were.

Drop visors in 430 stainless steel are listed as two products: a 14-inch visor for a T680 sleeper and a drop visor for a T880 sleeper. Neither listing covers day cabs. The T680 visor isn't confirmed for the Next Gen, so ask before you order one for a 2022+ truck.

Grille frames with bug screens also come per model: one for 2013-2021 T680s (SKU NY-UN24-X9AB) and one for the T880 (SKU NY-UN24-XB41). The bug screen sits in the grille opening. A bug deflector mounted on the hood is a different part. The T880 frame has a chrome-plated plastic surround.

Can the T680 and T880 use the same accessories?

Some can, but you confirm that from the specific product listing and your truck's configuration. The two trucks share a similar cab design, and that alone tells you nothing about fitment. Three cases from the catalog show how this works in practice:

  1. Mirror covers. One listing names both the T680 and the T880, for 2013-2021 model years.
  2. Drop visors. They are sold as separate products for T680 sleepers and T880 sleepers.
  3. Headlights and grille guards. You choose these by model, year, and configuration, and the Next Gen T680 has its own products.

Treat these as examples. A part can fit both trucks in one category and only one truck in the next.

Before you order

  • Model and generation: T680 2013-2021, T680 Next Gen, or T880
  • Model year and VIN
  • Sleeper or day cab
  • Bumper type and fog-light setup
  • Front sensors
  • One side or a pair
  • Brackets and hardware: included or bought separately

Have the VIN ready when you ask about fitment. The seller can check it against the listing. A VIN on its own is not an automatic guarantee of fit.

FAQ

Do Kenworth T680 and T880 accessories fit both models?

Some do, but most are sold per model. The chrome mirror cover set listed for both trucks fits 2013-2021 models only. Drop visors, headlights, grille guards and grille frames come as separate T680 and T880 products. Check the model, years and cab type on each listing before you order.

Will accessories for an older T680 fit a T680 Next Gen?

Don't count on it. The Next Gen (2022 and newer) has a different front end, so headlights and grille guards for 2013-2021 trucks are separate products. The LED headlight set NO-Z8UB-0RSL, for example, is listed for the Next Gen only. Treat any carryover as unconfirmed until the listing names your truck.

Can these drop visors be installed on a day cab?

Not as listed. Both 14-inch visors in this guide are sold for sleeper cabs, one for the T680 sleeper and one for the T880 sleeper. Neither listing includes day cab fitment, so look for a visor made for your cab or ask the seller before you order.

Do chrome mirror covers replace the complete mirror assembly?

No. The covers fit over the outside of your existing mirror housings and change how they look. The glass, heating elements, power adjustment and the mirror head stay as they are. If the mirror is cracked or its motor has failed, you need a replacement mirror assembly.

Are mounting brackets included with every grille guard?

No, it depends on the product. The listings for the HERD 300 for the T880 and the round grille guard for the earlier T680 state, that brackets are included. Other guards may differ, so read the package contents on each listing and check whether lights and wiring come in the box.

Does "ships within 24 hours" mean next-day delivery?

No. It means the order is handed to the carrier within 24 hours, not counting weekends and holidays. Delivery time depends on your address and the shipping method you choose. An order placed late on a Friday, for example, may not ship until Monday.
